Proof That There’s More to Life When You’re Eager to Explore Opportunities

My journey from an engineer to a content creator

Maybe, I took this quote way too seriously and am on a searching spree for whether the book I wish to read is written or not.

On entering my house, you’ll be welcomed by Books before any Human does. Such is my unparalleled love for books. My obsession with reading was always there. As a student, I liberally involved myself in writing articles for school magazines and participated in story writing competitions, only to let that habit fade away with time.

It is so saddening that we are more confident and ready to take risks as kids, but let our inner shadows hide them under the blanket of self-doubt as we grow up.

Before coming face to face with my passion for writing, I stumbled upon different ventures.

Like most Indian kids, I took up engineering (because that’s a minimum qualification we Indians are expected to have before pursuing our dreams), and almost succumbed to the expectations of joining a reputed IT company. To say the least, I felt agitated, and instead, chose to pursue my post-graduation, hoping for a different opportunity to open up in front of me. By the end of it, I was sure that I wanted to allow myself to explore fields that intrigued me.

Stories always drew my attention- be it through visual media or books. I believed everyone and everything has a story to tell.

With that being said, I tried my hand at acting through theatre plays. From there, I joined a team of ambitious individuals keen on telling stories through a visual medium and worked my way through it as an Assistant Director. My learnings in the theatre and direction department gave me enough confidence to successfully script the video content and direct a promotional video for a client. This experience fuelled my desire to create more video content.

Like they say, “Life doesn’t always go according to plan.” The universe had a different story to tell- the Covid-19 pandemic broke. And what I didn’t know was that my fate had a different calling and during this time I would enjoy writing more than anything.

I would constantly pen down my thoughts and feelings on paper- perks of being an introvert; I still do. But putting them out for others to read was never my intention, until recently. Having all the time in the world during the lockdown, I realized I wanted to do more than just read; I wanted to write.

With an increasing urge for learning about writing, the Millenial in me started binge-watching youtube videos on writing and that is when I came across the term Content Writing. This led me to start writing blogs on Medium and the rest is history.

My passion for storytelling turned me from an Earthquake Engineering post-grad into a theatre artist and eventually into an Assistant Director in TV serials. And now, here I am, playing the role of a Content Writer, bringing value to your business through my words.

Wonder where this adventure called Life will take me tomorrow.

Through this long post, this is what I intend my readers to know:

“Don’t let anyone tell you what you’re expected to do; don’t let your beliefs and expectations limit you; don’t shy away from exploring till you find what suits you. Enjoy what you do and Do what you enjoy.”

After all, Life is about experimenting and exploring. How would you know what your calling is if you never try?
